What Does Christmas Light Installation Cost in Southaven and Olive Branch?

3 min read

Every year more families in Southaven and Olive Branch decide they're done untangling lights in the driveway and climbing a ladder in the cold. Professional Christmas light installation takes care of the whole thing. The first question everyone asks is what it costs.

The honest answer is that it depends on your house. Instead of throwing out a number that won't match your home, here's what actually drives the price, what should be included, and how to get an exact quote quickly.

What drives the price

Most of the cost comes down to how much lighting your home needs and how hard it is to get to. The main factors:

  • Feet of roofline. Most quotes are built around the length of the rooflines you want lit. A simple ranch home needs a lot less than a two-story with lots of peaks.
  • Height and pitch. Single-story roofs are quicker and safer to work on. Steep or tall roofs take more time and equipment.
  • Extras. Wrapping trees, outlining windows, lighting bushes, and adding wreaths or garland all add to the job.
  • Type of lights. Commercial grade LED lights cost more up front than store bought strands but last much longer and look more even.
  • Power. If your outlets are far from where the lights go, or you need timers, that's part of the setup.

Rental vs buying your lights

Some companies sell you the lights, and some include them as part of a seasonal service. With a seasonal setup you don't have to store anything or replace burned out strands. If you already own lights, ask whether the installer will hang yours. Many will, though store bought strands tend to fail more often.

What a good installation should include

When you're comparing quotes, the price only tells part of the story. Make sure you know what you're getting.

  • Design help so the house looks balanced, not random
  • Clips that attach to shingles and gutters without nails or staples
  • A timer so the lights come on and off by themselves
  • Service calls if a strand goes out during the season
  • Takedown after the holidays
  • Careful storage or removal of the lights

With us, takedown in January and strand fixes all season are free. If a section goes dark the week before Christmas, text us and we'll come fix it.

Why not just do it yourself?

Plenty of people do, and if you enjoy it, that's great. But ladder falls are one of the most common holiday injuries, and a cold, wet roof in December is not a fun place to be. There's also the time. A full roofline can eat up an entire weekend, plus another one in January to take it all down.

When to book

Installers fill up fast once Thanksgiving gets close. The best time to book is October or early November. Lights can go up early and stay off until whatever day you want them to turn on. Waiting until December usually means fewer choices on dates.

Pair it with a gutter cleaning

Lights clip to your gutters, so it's smart to have them cleaned first. Clean gutters hold clips better, drain properly through the winter, and you won't have leaves sticking out between the bulbs in all your holiday photos. Our $99 gutter clean-out is an easy add-on before install.

How to get a real number

The fastest way to get an accurate price is to text us a photo of the front of your house and tell us what you'd like lit. We'll send back a free quote, usually the same day. No pressure, no sales pitch.
